DOCTAE is not only a project, it stands for a network and a teaching philosophy:
DOCTAE members are education and training professionals, supporting one of the key
messages of the European Union as the Lisbon Strategy says: “Education and Training
are the heart of the knowledge society”.
Adjusting teachers' and trainers' competences to the new European context
and globalisation complexity is one of the major priorities of the European
Union's Education and Culture policy. European Commission's analysis
describes some situations deserving attention:
- the European dimension is present only in some countries' curricula of study
- class are more and more differentiated in terms of origin, language, abilities, especial needs
- teachers' and trainers' mobility is not sufficient yet, whereas it would really improve teaching in facing new challenges
So DOCTAE members share these objectives:
- fostering integration and mutual validation of European education and training systems
- improving systems and curricula to fit new needs like intercultural dialogue, participation, entrepreneurship, languages
- fostering teachers' and trainers' mobility throughout Europe
DOCTAE members participate to the following activities:
- Survey of up-to-date EU sources on quality of VET trainers’ competences and qualifications and transnational analysis of trainers’ competencies needs
- Profiling of the European Training Antenna
- description of the profile, consisting in a teacher or a trainer able to bring European strategies, tools and information to students, colleagues and policy makers
- definition of the European Training Antenna's Certificate, a reference framework for the validation of the competences' standard to be promoted at transnational level
- Training pathways for European Training Antennas
- Development and testing of a multi-language training pathway organised
in 2 main areas: new competences (intercultural dialogue, participation,
citizenship, teaching creativity, etc.)and European awareness (institutions,
policies, decisional processes, working with European funds, etc.)
